Ron C. Bacy started his career in the Oklahoma City Police Department in August of 1992 and was named Oklahoma City’s 51st Chief of Police on August 16, 2024. He oversees more than 1,200 uniformed officer positions and 500 other professional staff positions in the Police Department.
Bacy began his career as a patrol officer and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2002. He served as a patrol supervisor in two divisions, and was also a field training supervisor, Emergency Response Team supervisor and on-call public information officer. He was later assigned to Training and Special Investigations.
Bacy was promoted to Captain in 2010 and held assignments in Operations, Investigations and Professional Standards. In 2019, he was promoted to Major and assigned as a patrol division commander. He was promoted to Deputy Chief in 2021, and was assigned to Operations, then Investigations. He also served as a member of Oklahoma City's Law Enforcement Policy Task Force and Community Policing Working Group.
Bacy is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 265, PERF Senior Management Institute for Policing and the MCCA Police Executive Leadership Institute.
