Sergeant
Douglas County Sheriff's Office
Castle Rock, Colorado, United States
Ronnie has served in law enforcement since 2012 and currently holds the position of Patrol Commander, in addition to serving as the SWAT Team Commander for the Douglas County S.W.A.T. Team. He has been married to his wife, Stephanie, for 14 years, and together they have two children.
In 2016, Ronnie was involved in an officer-involved shooting during which Detective Dan Brite was critically wounded. Approximately 15 months later, he was involved in a second officer-involved shooting that resulted in the line-of-duty death of Deputy Zack Parrish. These traumatic events had a profound impact on Ronnie, both professionally and personally.
In the aftermath, Ronnie began utilizing psychological services and peer support resources provided through his agency. He now speaks openly about the trauma he experienced—both from these incidents and from the cumulative stress of the profession. By sharing his story, Ronnie aims to support others in navigating trauma and to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health within the first responder community.
