I am a former law enforcement K9 handler (SAR, Narcotics, EOD), contract EOD handler, and Founder/Chairman of K9’s For Freedom & Independence, established in 2012.
With over 27 years in detection K9 training—including wilderness SAR, disaster response, cadaver, trailing, evidence, explosives, and narcotics—I bring extensive expertise to the field.
I also have 15+ years in service dog training (full handicap, PTSD/TBI), pet training, and behavioral work, along with experience in law enforcement, disaster response, nursing, and emergency medicine. A USAF/USAFR veteran of Desert Shield/Storm, I’ve combined my background as an Aerovac medic, corrections officer, LEO, and responder to advance K9 standards nationwide.
I pioneered the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) K9 protocols, developing national standards based on case law, federal law, and industry best practices.
Under the nonprofit, we train and offer a CIRT certification to any agency K9 serving as a Therapy, Wellness, Comfort, Support etc type role. We have several 5 day seminars to serve agencies across the US.
Currently, I serve as an Active Reserve LEO and K9 Supervisor.
