Commander Matt Clark has served with the Denver Police Department for 25 years, working in Patrol, Investigations, and Internal Affairs. As Commander of the Major Crimes Division, he oversees units responsible for the city’s most complex criminal investigations and is recognized as a subject matter expert on police shootings, critical incidents, and significant use-of-force cases. He established and leads Denver’s nationally recognized non-fatal shooting investigation team, the first of its kind in the nation.
Commander Clark has contributed to national standards for homicide, cold case, and critical incident investigations through his work with the Police Executive Research Forum and the Major Cities Chiefs Association. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Administration from Colorado State University and has completed leadership programs through the International Association of Chiefs of Police and PERF. He also partners with the Institute for Intergovernmental Research, advising agencies on strategies to combat violent gun crime and strengthen investigative practices.
