This session is designed to help supervisors and agency leaders prepare officers for the aftermath of a critical incident, such as a police shooting or an in-custody death. It emphasizes proactive strategies that agencies can implement before an incident occurs to reduce stress, ensure officer readiness, and protect the integrity and reputation of the agency. Topics include national trends; transparency and communication strategies; liability considerations; media and community expectations; and the importance of intentional reintegration efforts for officers. Attendees will leave with practical steps to better support their officers while maintaining public trust and accountability in the wake of high-stakes incidents.
