Police Officer
Kansas City Police Department
Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Officer Alayna Gonzalez
Public Information Officer, Kansas City Police Department
I am a committed law enforcement officer with nearly seven years of service at the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. I began my career in 2019, serving four years as a field officer in the East Patrol Division, where I focused on frontline response, community engagement, and problem-solving policing. Following a brief assignment in a specialized proactive policing unit, I was offered the opportunity, in 2023, to join the KCPD Media Unit as one of three sworn Public Information Officers.
In this role, I play a vital part in the department’s internal and external communications, handling media relations, crisis communications, and strategic public messaging. I was actively involved in managing communications during the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade mass shooting. I assisted with helping coordinate real-time information flow between command staff, media outlets, and the public during a highly fluid and emotionally charged situation.
I am proud to represent KCPD and share my experience surrounding this event at the IACP 2025 Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.
