Robin S. Engel, PhD, is Senior Research Scientist at The Ohio State University and Senior Advisor for 21st Century Policing Solutions. Previous positions include Vice President for Safety and Reform at the University of Cincinnati, Director of IACP’s Center for Police Research and Policy, and Co-chair of IACP’s Research Advisory Committee. Dr. Engel’s work includes implementing evidence-based practices to reduce crime, supporting data-driven decision-making, and testing organizational and operational changes. She partners with dozens of U.S. police agencies and internationally, serving as Principal Investigator of 115 funded research projects. She was previously ranked among the top five academics in criminology/CJ and has authored over 100 technical and expert reports for agency partners. She received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University at Albany in 2017, the O.W. Wilson Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences in 2022, and two IACP team awards. She is currently serving as an embedded researcher in the Louisville (KY) and Austin (TX) Police Departments, and as Director of the Consortium to Advance Police Supervision (CAPS).
