Chief Bryce Johnson became Chief of the Idaho Falls Police Department in 2017. His law enforcement career began in 1992 when he first became a police officer in Salt Lake City, UT where he spent 21 years. In 2013, Johnson became the Chief of the Juneau, Alaska Police Department where he served for four years before moving to Idaho Falls.
Chief Johnson is a believer in community policing and currently serves on the boards of the United Way of Idaho Falls, the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, and the East Idaho Critical Incident Taskforce, among others. He has previously served on other boards, volunteer positions, and with various employee groups.
Chief Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Utah and a Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute and served seven years in the United States Naval Reserves.
