Valérie Peeck has been an advisor and researcher with the Dutch Police since 2002. She specializes in strategic research and in bridging the gap between academic knowledge and police practice. Her expertise covers a wide range of criminological themes, including youth, violence, victimization, weapons use, reporting behavior, and safety policy. Over the years, Valérie has led and contributed to projects on topics such as young victims of violence, nightlife violence, stalking and youth involvement in drug-related crime. She is one of the founders of the Society of Evidence Based Policing – Netherlands (SEBP-NL) and currently co-chair of SEBP-NL together with Ruben Boomsma. Valérie also plays an active role in the National Police Research Network (Landelijk Onderzoekers Netwerk, LON), a community of in-house police researchers conducting applied research for and with the police. Valérie studied Psychology at Leiden University (Netherlands) and has professional experience in both academia and applied research.
