International Leading Practices and Lessons Learned from the Global Societies of Evidence-Based Policing (GSEBP)

Over the past decade, a wealth of knowledge on evidence-based policing (EBP) has emerged. Around the world, police officers are developing strategies to prevent and address crime, while researchers study the dynamics of crime and criminal behavior. EBP bridges these two worlds, offering insights into “what works” and leveraging the best available evidence to make communities safer. In 2024, five Societies of Evidence-Based Policing—the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Australia/New Zealand—launched a global collaboration to facilitate the exchange of research, proven strategies, and data-driven insights among policing and law enforcement agencies worldwide. In this workshop, representatives from these societies will share successful interventions and discuss the challenges of implementing EBP in real-world policing.
