An Interactive Ransomware Exercise: 60 Minutes to Enhancing Agency Resilience

You practice for major physical incidents through tabletop exercises (TTXs)—you should be preparing for major cyber incidents the same way. In this session, panelists with expertise in policing and cybersecurity will guide audience volunteers through a ransomware incident TTX. The simulated attack will reflect real-world threats currently targeting law enforcement agencies, including media scrutiny, compromised digital evidence, and threats to expose sensitive information and internal communications online. Chiefs, executives, public information officers, and legal or privacy officers will gain confidence in responding to a ransomware incident and in implementing an effective cyber TTX. The session will ensure that their policies and procedures are battle-tested in the event of an actual incident. TTX resources will also be shared.
