The son of an Idaho State Trooper, Colonel Kedrick Wills began his law enforcement career in 1995 as a bilingual patrol officer in Nampa, Idaho. In 1996, he was hired by the Idaho State Police as a state trooper. Throughout his law enforcement career, Colonel Wills has served in many locations and assignments of increasing responsibility throughout the State of Idaho. In July 2017, he was asked to serve as a member of the Idaho Governor’s Cabinet as the director of the Idaho State Police and was subsequently confirmed by the Idaho State Senate three times to serve in this role to both Governor C.L. Butch Otter and Governor Brad Little. In addition to his service with ISP, Colonel Wills is a sought-after teacher and speaker in the areas of leadership and organizational culture. He has delivered his message of personal accountability and leadership to groups of all sizes and ages including teaching at the university level as an adjunct faculty member for approximately 10 years. He is the author of the book, Lead Now, No Title Required. Colonel Wills holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Idaho State University. (Go Bengals!) He was awarded the ISP Silver Star for heroism in 1997 and is a proud graduate of both the FBI National Academy Session #232 and the Naval Post Graduate Center of Homeland Security Executive Leaders Program. Colonel Wills served as a member of several boards and commissions including the Board of Directors of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the vice chair of the IACP State and Provincial Section, the Idaho Board of Medicine, Idaho POST Council, and the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission. In August of 2024, after 30 years in law enforcement, Colonel Wills retired from the Idaho State Police and was honored with Governor Little permanently retiring his car number, which was also his father’s number. In retirement Colonel Wills continues providing his message of personal accountability and leadership. In addition, he works with several organizations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police on a road safety project in several Latin America Countries. Colonel Wills and his wife of 28 years, Johanna continue to enjoy the lifestyle of living in Idaho and are the proud parents of 4 adult children.
