Captain
Greensboro Police Department
Greensboro, North Carolina, United States
Ashley Brown is a Captain with the Greensboro Police Department in NC. He has served 24 years with GPD. He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff and Command (Class #529) and Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Police (Class #96). He earned a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University and a bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has served in various assignments, including the Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Information and Analysis Division, Special Operations Division, and Patrol. While assigned to CID, he worked on implementing recommended changes from the National Case Closed Project conducted by RTI International. Some of these changes were expanding victim advocacy within the department. This led to being awarded the FY2023 Law Enforcement-Based Victim Services Program to hire additional victim advocates and develop a “soft” interview room, and the FY2024 Office on Violence Against Women: Abby Honold Grant, which provides training to officers to understand a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach to investigations.
