Michael Gresham is the Chief Wellness Officer for the Virginia State Police and is the former Chief Wellness Officer for the Virginia Beach Police Department. Gresham heads up the State Police’s mental wellness and resiliency efforts as well as Coordinator for CISM/Peer Support Team. Michael has worked full and part time in law enforcement for city, county, and state level agencies as well as corporate leadership positions in risk management, safety and as a CEO.His experience includes director of training at a regional police academy and serving as the Chief Negotiator on the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team. Having gone through several critical incidents including the suicide of a SWAT teammate and friend he began his journey with resilience and mindfulness over 15 years ago and brings that real life experience to his current position. He is a Certified Cognitive Fitness Coach, Certified in the Safe & Sound Protocol, holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Oklahoma State University, is a certified Police Officer and Instructor in Oklahoma (CLEET) and retains his peace officer status from Oklahoma as a Retired Officer.
