How to Build a Culture of Character in Today's Law Enforcement Agencies
Saturday, October 18, 2025
4:00 PM - 5:00 PM MT
Location: Mile High Ballroom 1AB, Colorado Convention Center
In the U.S. and around the world, character failures continue to damage the law enforcement profession. Yet we rigorously train tactics and then hope our people pass the character tests they will inevitably face. But hope is a poor leadership strategy. We must stop relying on hope and instead prepare individuals for those unavoidable tests of character. When the moment comes, will they choose character—or something less? West Point has served as a model for character development for centuries, and that model can be applied in any agency. Culture will form whether a leader is intentional about it or not. It is a leader’s duty to deliberately shape and guide that culture into a Culture of Character. This session is not a theoretical discussion. It is a practical class where participants will leave with an actionable outline that any agency can implement—if its leaders are intentional.
