AI technology is introducing new challenges that may compromise the integrity of applicant assessments in public safety hiring. This presentation will examine how artificial intelligence is influencing the hiring process, the risks it poses to the reliability of applicant evaluations, and strategies to mitigate these concerns. One growing issue is the use of AI-generated responses in applications, where candidates may rely on AI tools to craft polished—but potentially misleading—answers. Similarly, AI-enhanced interview manipulation is emerging, with applicants using real-time tools to improve their presentation during interviews. Additionally, the increasing reliance on telehealth for psychological evaluations introduces new liabilities for uninformed practitioners and raises concerns about the security and validity of the evaluation process.
