Supervisory Special Agent, Dignitary Protection Division
U.S. Capitol Police
Supervisory Special Agent Caroline Edwards began her law enforcement career with the United States Capitol Police in 2017. For seven years, she served as a uniformed officer before being promoted to Sergeant in 2024 and assigned to the Dignitary Protection Division, where she is responsible for the physical protection of members of Congress.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, SSA Edwards earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Georgia.
In 2021, while serving with the department’s Civil Disturbance Unit, she sustained a traumatic brain injury that required an extended recovery. That experience shaped her commitment to officer wellness, peer support, and the development of strategies to strengthen institutional resilience. Today, she continues to champion the well-being of injured officers and promote a culture of strength, recovery, and accountability within law enforcement.
