Dr. David Kilcullen is President & CEO of research firm Cordillera Applications Group, headquartered in Denver CO, with branches in the US and UK. Cordillera works with R&D agencies such as DARPA in the United States and Dstl in the UK, and with tech firms, global banks, manufacturing firms and agencies of US and NATO governments. He is a theorist and practitioner of irregular warfare, with operational service over 25 years with the Australian Army, Office of National Intelligence and US State Department. He served in Iraq as senior counterinsurgency advisor to General David Petraeus, then as counterterrorism advisor to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, deploying to Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Libya and Colombia. He has authored 8 books and numerous scholarly papers on terrorism, insurgency, urbanization, advanced tech, special ops and future war. He was named one of Foreign Policy’s top 100 global thinkers in 2009, and awarded the 2015 Walkley Award (Australia’s Pulitzer prize) for war reporting on Islamic State. He is Professor of International and Political Studies at UNSW Canberra and Professor of Practice in Global Security at Arizona State University.
