Kristen Mahoney is the Director of Policy, Government, and Partner Engagement at the University of Chicago Crime Lab and Education Labs. She leads outreach and collaboration strategies with elected officials and government agencies to advance the Labs’ public safety and education work. Previously, she served as Principal Deputy Director of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, overseeing more than $4 billion in public safety resources. In Maryland, she led the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and held key roles with the Baltimore Police Department and the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice. In 2016, she received a Presidential Rank Award from President Obama for her work launching the National Public Safety Partnership. She holds a B.A. from Sweet Briar College and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore.
