Edward C. Keane, Ph.D., is a professor of forensic psychology and police and investigative psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels, including the University of New Haven and Walden University. His teaching, research, and training focus is on law enforcement officer wellness. As a former special deputy sheriff, he instituted in-service training for sheriffs experiencing high-stress levels. Presently, he works with the Danbury Police Department to develop programs for officer wellness and Critical Incident Stress Management. He collaborates with IACP in several initiatives, including Family Wellness, and co-chairs the Officer Suicide Prevention Working Group of the Safety and Wellness Section. He is a Board Member of the New England Crisis Negotiators Association and an active hostage negotiator and psych-consultant with municipal police agencies, the Connecticut State Police, and the FBI. He is the Past President and current Board member of the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology, an international association of police psychologists and police executives. He is a frequent presenter and trainer on topics related to police psychology.
