Captain Nevin Long is currently the Field Operations East District Commander for the Knoxville Police Department (KPD). He has served with KPD for over 23 years in multiple capacities, such as an officer, sergeant, and lieutenant in patrol, a detective in the Property Crimes and Major Crimes/Homicide Units, and the lieutenant/unit commander for the Special Crimes Unit. This is in addition to a number of specialty and team assignments over his career, such as KPD’s Mobile Field Force Commander, firearms instructor & armorer, and field training officer. He has attended training to include the FBI National Academy (Session 290), all three FBI LEEDA Trilogy Courses, the Tennessee LEEDA course, and the Southeastern Command & Leadership Academy. Nevin holds bachelors and master's degrees in criminal justice from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.
