Robert Lewis is a Sergeant with the Apex (NC) Police Department. The Apex Police Department is located just outside the state’s capital city of Raleigh, NC. With over 15 years of law enforcement experience, Sgt. Lewis currently serves as a first-line supervisor in the Patrol Division. In partnership with his wife Amanda, he founded Apex PD Families Behind the Badge; the department’s first attempt at a family support and outreach program. Robert served as the Point of Contact for the 2024 IACP Law Enforcement Family Support Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Program. This program helped equip officers, departments, and families with training and technical assistance to establish or enhance family wellness, engagement, and support programs. Sgt. Lewis volunteered to lead a team of Apex police officers to assist the Asheville Police Department with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts as part of the Wake County Task Force. Robert is passionate about building sustainable training programs and initiatives to help police officers and their families understand the impact of cumulative trauma and the prevention of law enforcement suicide.
