Chief Christopher B. Settle has served with the Town of Culpeper Police Department (Virginia) since 1997, beginning his law enforcement career as a Patrol Officer. A lifelong resident of Culpeper, he graduated from Culpeper County High School in 1992 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Radford University in 1997. In 2023, he earned a Master’s Degree in Public Safety from the University of Virginia. He is also a graduate of the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Academy (2004).
As Chief, he oversees a department of 51 sworn officers and has led the implementation of a Real-Time Crime and Information Center (RTCIC), which has already proven effective as a resource management and workforce multiplier tool in its early stages.
Chief Settle is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). He serves on the IACP Communications and Technology Committee, where he chairs the Real-Time Crime Center Subcommittee and contributes to the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Subcommittee.
