-Lieutenant Sameer Sood brings 20 years of law enforcement service to the Sacramento Police Department. Raised in California’s Central Valley and oversees, Sameer uses his knowledge of various cultures to better connect with the communities he serves. Before law enforcement, he served as a high school history teacher in California. Sameer graduated from the Sacramento Police Academy in 2005. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and Lieutenant in 2017, with assignments in Patrol Operations, Training Division, Outreach, POP, Internal Affairs, Gang Enforcement, and Metro. He is a POST-Certified instructor teaching Criminal Law, Riot & Crowd Control, and Implicit Basis. He is a graduate of the P.O.S.T Command College Program, Executive Development Course, POST Management Course, and Advanced POST Instructor Course. He attended and graduated California State University Long Beach where he earned a B.A. in History and a Teaching Credential in Secondary Education.
