Doug Shoemaker is a distinguished 33-year veteran of law enforcement, most recently serving as Chief of Police for the Denton (Texas) Police Department. Prior to his tenure in Texas, he led the Grand Junction (Colorado) Police Department for four and a half years, following nearly three decades of service with the Jefferson City (Missouri) Police Department.
Elected as the 5th Vice President of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Doug rose to the role of 3rd Vice President before his retirement. He continues to shape the profession as Co-Chair of the IACP Human and Civil Rights Committee and Leadership Advisory Group.
Doug holds a BA in English Literature, an MS in Criminal Justice, and an EdD in Organizational Leadership. He is also a founding board member of The Curve, a nonprofit initiative co-created with author and speaker Simon Sinek to reimagine police leadership development and organizational culture.
Currently, Doug serves as a Public Safety Executive with Peregrine Technologies, a San Francisco–based software company, and as a Leadership and Organizational Wellness Consultant with Julie Parker Communications.
