Jamie Kirsch serves as the Program Manager for the Rapid City Police Department’s (RCPD) Community Engagment Team. In the past 5 years, she has facilitated the development of a new, Native American-led street outreach program supporting dispatch calls for service responding to members of the houseless community and overseen the development of a youth outreach team which includes non-uniformed officers and non-law enforcement staff providing outreach to families in crisis. She has has helped establish a model for neighborhood intervention in areas of the community disproportionately affected by violence and implemented the first Handle With Care program in the state of South Dakota. Prior to working with RCPD, Jamie served in the US Army for 8 years and completed 2 tours in Iraq. Jamie has an Undergraduate degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in International Conflict Resolution. Upon completing her Graduate degree at UMASS—Boston, Jamie was awarded a Presidential Management Fellowship and served as a Conflict Management Officer for the US State Department for 4 years working on conflicts in Nigeria, Syria, Somalia and Yemen.
