Brigadier General Dror Avda serves as the Police and National Security Ministry Attaché and Liaison Officer to the United States and Canada, a role he assumed in August 2022 following his nomination by Israel’s Minister of Public Security. In this capacity, he leads efforts to strengthen law enforcement cooperation and advance strategic partnerships between Israel, the United States, and Canada. Throughout his distinguished career in the Israel National Police (INP), Brigadier General Avda has held several senior command positions. He previously served as Commander of the Major Crime Units “Merkaz” (Central), overseeing complex investigations into organized crime, drug trafficking, homicides, and hate crimes. Prior to that, he commanded the “Shai” District, with responsibility for operational, investigative, and community policing across a diverse and complex region. Brigadier General Avda served as Deputy Commander of Israel’s elite National Counter-Terror Unit (YAMAM( and also commanded special undercover and covert operations units, as well as holding senior positions within YAMAM, the Israeli National Counter-Terror and Special Operations Unit. These roles placed him at the forefront of counter-terrorism operations, high-risk investigations, and crisis response efforts both domestically and internationally. Brigadier General Avda holds a Bachelor’s degree in Middle East Studies and a Master’s degree in Legal Studies, reflecting his combined expertise in security leadership, legal frameworks, and international relations.
