Mario Porretto obtained his master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 and carried out research activities at the University of Palermo until 2017 in the field of Machine Construction and Mechanical Systems. Since 2018, he works in the Italian National Police, serving at the Ministry of the Interior - Department of Public Security - Road Police Service, where he is Director of the Central Laboratory for Automotive Analytics and Forensics. The Laboratory carries out specialized operational and research activities in vehicle forensics field, with a particular focus on road accidents and investigative activities. In particular, he is primarily responsible for extracting and analysing data recorded by electronic control units in vehicles for the purpose of accident dynamics reconstruction and liability determination. He is also involved in the study of innovative systems and techniques for road accident investigation.
