Jamie Knox was appointed Chief of Police in Walnut Creek in July 2021, becoming the city’s 12th police chief. Chief Knox has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and is an accomplished police executive.
Chief Knox has worked many assignments in his career including Patrol, Field Training Officer, Canine Officer, SWAT, Honor Guard, Detectives, and Internal Affairs. He has moved up the ranks throughout his career to command a variety of these same assignments. He has 20 years of supervisory experience, with 15 of those as a manager and 10 of those as an executive.
Chief Knox has served as an adjunct faculty member at three higher education institutes. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Management and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Leadership. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, and the Senior Management Institute for Police in Boston, Massachusetts.
