Det Sgt Nick Ferrara has been with the Gainesville Police Department for over 28 years. His 28 years has been split between the patrol and investigations bureau. He is currently assigned as the Det Sgt over the Financial Crimes Unit. Det Sgt Ferrara has created and a vast network of partners in LE agencies, retailers, financial institutions, and solutions providers. He has been featured in multiple publications, podcasts, and blogs for his experience in various finance and fraud related topics. In 2022, he was selected by the Florida Retail Federation as the LE Officer of the Year. The same year, he was one of 8 finalists for the FL AG's Office Florida Law Enforcement Officer of the year.
Det Sgt Ferrara has become technically proficient in numerous investigative tools to include LPRs, OSINT, and multiple FR platforms. As an active FR practitioner, Det Sgt Ferrara has attained a “super user” status in this field. Det Sgt Ferrara has earned the reputation of being an expert in the field of FR by his development of several thousand investigative leads in cases. Det Sgt Ferrara’s assistance has been sought out by multiple LE agencies, retailers, and FIs across the US.
