Mike Parker is a Law Enforcement Strategic Communications Advisor (Independent Contractor). He also serves as the elected Chair of the International Managers of Police Academy and College Training Section (IMPACT) of the IACP, and is a IADLEST International (IICI) and National (INCI) Certified Instructor.
He retired in 2017 as Commander of Personnel and Training with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD). His 32 years with the LASD included creating and implementing the internal and external communications, news media and social media strategy for the second largest policing agency in the United States. He is a former Strategic Communications Advisor (2018-2025) HQ Contractor (Amentum) for the USDOJ ICITAP (International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program). He has published over 100 articles on policing and presented at over 100 conferences to policing and government officials from thousands of agencies and 58 countries. He received the Community Preparedness Heroes Award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Community Preparedness and Resilience Champions of Change Award from the White House.
