Bridging the Gap: The Role of Outreach Case Coordinators in Police Work

The Outreach Case Coordinator (OCC) Program is designed to alleviate the burden on officers by addressing resource-intensive calls. OCCs follow up on all mental health–related incidents to which officers respond, offering critical support and connecting individuals with appropriate services. Each police district is supported by an OCC—a civilian employee with expertise in case management—who is dedicated to ensuring individuals receive the resources they need.
