To advance the representation of women within the Denver Police Department and inspire the next generation of women officers, the EmpowHer program was created and launched in September 2024. This unique six-week recruiting initiative is designed for—and taught by—women. The EmpowHer Academy introduces participants to the wide range of career opportunities available within the department, from advancing through the ranks to finding a specialized niche. The program aims to provide a realistic view of what it’s like to serve as a Denver police officer, instill confidence, remove barriers, and offer support throughout the application and hiring process in collaboration with the Denver Civil Service Commission.
