CJIS Security Policy Modernization: What Do 12 Months of Audits Teach Us?

Over the past three years, the criminal justice community in the United States has received a series of enhancements to the CJIS Security Policy to align it with NIST Special Publication 800-53 security controls. As of October 1, 2024, Priority 1 changes became auditable for all agencies, and as of October 1, 2025, Version 6.0 will be auditable. What are these changes, and how should agencies prepare? What resources are available to assist? What questions should chiefs and executives be asking their teams? The IACP CJIS Security Policy Modernization Working Group has assembled a panel of experts to answer these questions and others you may have.
