Fighting Hate and Building Community Trust: The Hate Free Colorado Coalition Model

The Hate Free Colorado coalition brings together a diverse group of law enforcement and community partners committed to countering hate crimes across the state. This collaborative initiative offers a successful framework for building strong police–community partnerships that enhance public safety by fostering trust and meaningful relationships. This session will highlight the coalition’s initiatives and impact, including the development of strategies and programs to: respond to hate incidents; educate the public on the impact of hate crimes and relevant laws; increase reporting; and promote the safety of marginalized communities and the broader public. Coalition members will share their experiences and reflect on how their efforts have advanced the fight against hate and hate crimes in Colorado.
