Why Every Agency Should have a Foot Pursuit Policy

While nearly every agency has a policy governing motor vehicle pursuits, policies addressing when officers are permitted to engage in foot pursuits are far less common. This presentation will analyze the content of existing foot pursuit policies in the United States, based on recent research. It will also identify key policy provisions informed by data on foot pursuits that resulted in critical incidents.
