Development, Application, and Evaluation of a Multidisciplinary, Trusted Approach to the Prevention of Targeted Violence and Radicalization

This proposed panel will bring together subject matter experts in law enforcement, police psychology, public health, Colorado emergency preparedness, and the Colorado Information Analysis Center. Colorado has experienced approximately 17 mass violence events in schools, businesses, government agencies, and religious institutions. In the aftermath of Columbine, experts and government representatives initiated a proactive approach to intervention. Panelists were selected to support the development of statewide violence prevention strategies and to address premeditated violence directed at specific individuals, groups, or locations. These goals have been advanced through behavioral threat assessment and management training, legislative development, and strong community partnerships.
