    Supporting Growth After Tragedy

    Tragedy is an unavoidable reality in policing. Traumatic events affect not only individual officers but also entire agencies and the communities they serve. Without proper support, the aftermath of such events can take a toll emotionally, physically, and professionally. With intentional leadership and structured resilience strategies, however, agencies can transform adversity into opportunities for growth. This training will introduce participants to the IACP’s Supporting Growth After Tragedy framework. Attendees will explore how agency leaders can guide personnel through crisis recovery, foster post-traumatic growth, and cultivate a culture of resilience. The session will also present strategies to enhance officer well-being and strengthen agency-wide recovery efforts.
